‘ANTARANG 2026’: A Kathak showcase

Festival by AAMAD Dance Centre to showcase Guru–Shishya Parampara through solo, trio and group performances

AAMAD Dance Centre will present ANTARANG 2026, its annual Kathak dance festival, at the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts on Monday evening, marking International Dance Day.

Conceived as an intimate artistic exchange, the festival brings together dancers across experience levels, foregrounding the Guru–Shishya Parampara within a contemporary performance setting.

Mentored by Kathak exponent Rani Khanam, the programme will feature solo recitals by Mahima Srivastava, Nidhi Sambharwal, Ishani Banerjee, Shruti Tyagi, Archisha Sharma, Avishi Aggarwal and Shiney Komal. The repertoire spans nritta and abhinaya, with pieces such as Dil-e-Nadaan, Thumak Chalat Ram Chandra and Dekho Sakhi, alongside traditional formats including Teentaal, Jhaptaal, Dhamar and Tarana.

A trio by Priti Mahansaria, Geetika Loomba and Kavita Sati will interpret the ghazal Qaraar, while group presentations by AAMAD students will include Saraswati Vandana, Main To Chal Rahi Hoon Nand Gaon Re, Malkauns Tarana, Ardhang and Kanha Re Nand Nandan.

Rooted in the Lucknow Gharana tradition, the festival underscores a balance of technique and expressivity. Founded in 1996, AAMAD Dance Centre is recognised by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and empanelled with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
