After all that home-cooked food during the lockdown, it’s a treat to be able to visit an all-American eatery with its burgers, hot dogs and cheesy fries
All foodies across Delhi, your wait is over! Punjab’s favourite Uncle Jack’s has finally opened doors in the Capital. Adding to one of your go to place for anything American, this one is right in the heart of the city – GK.
“Uncle Jack’s was conceived as a simple dream of bringing the best of American food to India. We are overwhelmed with the love we have received in North India over the last four years, and are now excited to make a mark in the capital city of India,” says Ankush Arora, Founder – Uncle Jack’s India.
Juicy burgers, crunchy fries, hot dogs, pizza and all things cheesy this place has something for everyone.
“The menu is pretty much a culmination of all the travel that I have had the opportunity to experience. All the food walks through random streets that serve the best flavours, have culminated into what our menu is today,” adds Arora.
Spoilt for choice, we started off with their signature double-decker burgers. We went with Linkin Park and Mick Jagger. Yes, giving it a true American touch, the dishes are named after iconic American personalities.
The very first choices turned out to be real winners. Linkin Park with its double-layered chicken patty is the real king — both in size and taste. Absolutely flavourful with bell peppers, it’s a real treat. One burger is way too big to finish at one go.
Giving it tough competition is Mick Jagger with its soft bun and an equally soft mutton patty. Don’t fret about getting messy as it is fingerlicking good.
How can we forget to order fries with burgers? The Chicken cheese burger fries is quite generously loaded with the cheese dripping into the jar. The right amount of crunchiness, its honestly quite addictive. We didn’t know which to have first – the fries or the burgers.
We liked the fries so much that we ordered another but this one without any toppings. Instead, we choose to add some flavour with the Cajun spiced one. Perfectly spicy, you keep reaching out for more. Simply served with ketchup and mayo on the side.
To down it all smoothly, we went with Raspberry Lemonade which was an absolute hit. Served in a beaker with a syringe full of the raspberry, it tastes as impressive as it looks. It almost feels like conducting a science experiment as the raspberry slowly mixes with the lemonade in the beaker. The best part is that you can add just the right amount of raspberry according to your taste.
However, their Black Chocolate Forest shake was a miss. Despite being a recommended it wasn’t that impressive. It was a lot like a simple chocolate shake.
Taking a break, while we nibbled on fries we decided to order something different from their varied menu. Looking around we noticed that the place was quite buzzing with almost every table full. With a simple décor it has two floors and pop music adds to the vibe of the place. Reasonably priced, we could tell why this place was a real crowd puller.
It’s impossible to go to an American joint and not order a Hot Dog. Despite being almost full we went for the ‘Lord of the Rings’. The sausage is well coated with onion rings, barbeque sauce and pickled onions. The sauces drip with each bite and its delightfully crispy. For those who like that sweet touch in their food this one is the perfect choice for you.
Also offering a good variety of pizzas, we ordered one. Here it comes in a rectangular shape and we tried The Joey Tribbiani. Loaded with grilled chicken, chicken ham, chicken sausages and bbq, it is cut into slices, making it easier to eat. Served in a thin crust, each bite is a mouthful of chicken toppings. They also give you an option of single or doubles.
We finished it all off with a waffle – Walnut Grove. As the name suggests it was garnished well with candied walnuts and chocolate fudge. Served with ice cream, it went perfectly well with the crunchy waffle.
On the way out I decided to take a photo just at the entrance of Uncle Jack’s, that’s when I got curious about its name. “Well Jack is a very common American name and that easily makes it relatable. Uncle was added to bring in that touch of familiarity. I think it has worked out well for us,” explains Arora.
