The Open Palm Court Gallery at the India Habitat Centre will host Third Eye – A Journey Beyond the Visible, an immersive, multisensory exhibition by contemporary impressionist artist Alpna Kataria, from August 18 to 22. Curated by BOA Gallery, the show aims to engage viewers through sight, touch, sound, and scent, offering an experience that goes beyond traditional visual art.
The exhibition will open at 5:00 PM on August 18, with IAS officer Samyak S Jain (2022 batch) as the chief guest. Guests of honour will include fine artist Ajay Samir, former IRS officer and Director of Adhyatma Sadhna Kendra K. C. Jain, and Preksha Meditation and Jeevan Vigyan trainer Renu Nahata.
Kataria, a graduate of Delhi College of Art, is known for her vibrant acrylic and oil paintings marked by bold textures, layered colours, and a focus on evoking emotion rather than photographic precision. “Painting transports me into a world of my own. My subconscious takes over the reins, and my hands begin to move with a mind of their own – creating layers of colours, textures, and forms,” she says.
Recurring motifs in her work include moonlit skies, atmospheric seas, wildflowers, and meadows—subjects she has been drawn to since childhood. Influenced by Van Gogh and Monet, Kataria uses sweeping brushstrokes and luminous colours to capture the essence of a scene. Her mother, also an accomplished artist, played a formative role in nurturing her creative instincts.

With more than 92 exhibitions in India and abroad, Kataria’s works are held in private collections of art collectors, interior designers, hoteliers, and art lovers worldwide. Third Eye invites viewers to turn inward, using the symbolic ‘third eye’ as a guide for deeper reflection and connection with the artwork.
