The Sense Art Foundation is set to present Renaissance, a two-day cultural festival celebrating the confluence of classical Indian dance and contemporary light design. The event will take place on April 16 and 17 at 7:00 PM at the India Habitat Centre.
Founded in 2020, the Sense Art Foundation has been working to promote light design as a vital element in artistic performance through its initiative, LightSense. The upcoming festival is positioned as a celebration of hope, positivity, and cultural preservation, while also embracing the technical innovations shaping modern stagecraft.
“Renaissance is a tribute to our cultural roots, while also embracing modern technologies to create an unforgettable artistic journey through light and dance,” said Milind Srivastava, Festival Director.
The festival will feature a diverse range of performances from both established and emerging artists. Among the performers are Gaurav Bhatti (Kathak) from Canada, Aneesha Grover (Bharatnatyam), Ayana Mukherjee (Kuchipudi), and the duo Tribhuvan Maharaj and Rajni Maharaj (Kathak/Bharatnatyam). Also taking the stage will be the contemporary dance ensemble Shadhya Group, Odissi exponent Kavita Diwedi, and Kathak dancers Suparna and Mahima.

Each performance will be uniquely designed to highlight the interplay between movement and light, creating an immersive experience that bridges the gap between tradition and innovation, the organisers said.
