Gallerie Nvya presents two exhibitions by Seema Kohli at Triveni Kala Sangam, exploring mythology, feminine resilience, and self-making

Gallerie Nvya is currently presenting two concurrent exhibitions by contemporary artist Seema Kohli at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. Titled Bodies of Sky, Bodies of Earth and With Her Hair Running Wild, the exhibitions offer a layered view of Kohli’s multidisciplinary practice, spanning sculpture, painting, printmaking, embroidery, and mixed media.

Bodies of Sky, Bodies of Earth is on view from January 18 to January 25, at the Shridharani Gallery. The exhibition brings together works across materials and forms, including terracotta, woodcuts, embroidery, and sculptural figures. Kohli’s practice here is approached as a continuous investigation into the idea of the body—human, divine, ecological, and mythic—where form carries memory, labour, and lived histories. The works reflect an understanding of the body as a vessel that holds landscapes, species, and stories rather than as a fixed or singular form.

Running concurrently, With Her Hair Running Wild is on view from January 18 to March 15, at Gallerie Nvya’s space within Triveni Kala Sangam. The exhibition traces different phases of Kohli’s artistic journey, from early, intimate sketches made under constrained circumstances to the bold colours, patterns, and iconographies that define her recent work. The selected works reflect narratives of feminine resilience, domestic escape, and self-making, drawing on mythological figures, undomesticated goddesses, and emotionally charged archetypes.

Together, the two exhibitions foreground Kohli’s long engagement with mythology, ecology, gender, and spiritual inquiry, presenting art as a space for regeneration, resistance, and continuity. The works move between the personal and the cosmic, offering viewers an expansive and deeply reflective encounter with her evolving practice.
