Kalamkari Gallery is currently hosting Sehrā-e-ret – The Dancing Dunes, a solo exhibition by artist Mansi Trehan, at its Bikaner House space from January 4 to 7. The exhibition features 31 works in acrylic on wooden boards and canvas, marking Trehan’s debut solo show.
The exhibition explores the shifting landscapes of the Indian desert and its relationship with the lives of those who inhabit it. Drawing inspiration from the winds and sands of Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, Trehan presents the desert not as a static geography but as a living, evolving force shaped by memory, erosion and renewal.
Informed by her background in architecture, Trehan uses the patti—a rectangular metal sheet commonly used in construction for applying wall putty—as her primary painting tool. This approach allows her to create layered, tactile surfaces, lending the works a strong material presence and linking the act of painting closely with architectural practice.

Characterised by abstract compositions, Trehan’s works invite reflection and emotional engagement, blending physical landscapes with psychological terrains of memory and movement.
