Dhoomimal Gallery, the oldest art gallery in India, will present a solo exhibition of paintings by Hemraj at LTC Gallery Bikaner House from November 2-10. Titled “Eternal Reminiscence,” the exhibition will showcase Hem Raj’s latest series of paintings, called “Eternal Reminiscence 2.0.”
The exhibition features over a dozen mammoth paintings, immersed in a dense and colorful suite of imagery. Hem Raj’s works explore the duality of absence and presence, creating an enigmatic look and feel. Within the framework of contemporary abstraction, the artist presents a wide spectrum of non-discernible non-figurative formless forms, somewhat surrealist in nature.
The artist’s free flowing creatives incorporate enchanting compositions with ideas and symbols, line work, variously painted shapes and shades, dots and metaphors, calligraphy and collage. Painted in bold and fluid strokes, Hem Raj’s artworks resonate with spontaneity. Interwoven with intuition and mystique, they seem to emerge from a metamorphic realm.
Hem Raj’s art features unconventional and ephemeral “non-object” imagery that is not related to any particular form or figure, narrative, or pre-thought-out ideas or context. The artist’s distinct abstract lexicon adds to the mystique and intuition interwoven within his paintings.
“In my latest series, I delve into the interplay between time, memory, and eternity. My aim is to explore the depths of the human experience beyond the constraints of the present moment. With each brushstroke, I strive to capture the essence of eternal reminiscence, evoking a sense of timelessness and universality. This series serves as a mirror, reflecting viewers’ own memories, emotions, and experiences, bridging the gap between artist and audience,” the artist said.
The LTC Art Gallery Bikaner House exhibition promises to captivate visitors with narratives that transcend time and space. Each painting invites viewers to explore the profound depths of human existence and the eternal shared experiences that connect us all.
