Meenakshi Wadhwa’s captivating art will be showcased in an upcoming exhibition titled “The Knock,” sponsored by IIC. The exhibition aims to ignite conversations surrounding dreams, positivity, and the power of opportunity. The exhibition will be inaugurated by sarod maestro Ayaan Ali Bangash on May 23, 2023 and will be open to the public from May 24.
Meenakshi’s artistic creations go beyond the ordinary, offering viewers a glimpse into hidden dangers lurking beneath the surface. Her artwork serves as a tangible medium through which she communicates her innermost thoughts and emotions.
Having embarked on her artistic journey 18 years ago as a self-taught artist, Meenakshi has honed her skills by painting on canvas using various materials. Her talent has garnered recognition through numerous awards, and she was recently featured in an art book showcasing international artists.
When asked about her creative process, Meenakshi Wadhwa expressed that blank canvases ignite her creativity, enabling her to represent her experiences in fresh and imaginative ways. Painting serves as both a form of meditation and emancipation, transporting her to imaginary realms.
Wadhwa further explains, “My artistic style encompasses both realism and contemporary influences, resulting in a vibrant fusion within my works.”
She elaborates, “Through a delightful concoction of hues, my paintings become an expression of who I am. I meticulously craft textures using whimsical brushstrokes, infusing my works with vitality and richness. These textures possess remarkable strength, while the colors evoke a sense of silent joy, expressing the unspoken.”
Employing the metaphor of a “Door,” Meenakshi explores themes of hope and encounters within her artwork. Whether portraying an open and inviting door or a gateway to another world, this series invites discussions on optimism, aspirations, and opportunities.
One of her captivating pieces, “Lost Hamlet,” juxtaposes dancing women with a prevailing sense of isolation and loneliness, revealing glimpses of joy and happiness captured within the artwork. In “The Blush,” viewers are transported to a festive townscape, while “My Whimsical” reflects Meenakshi’s playful spirit skillfully manifested on the canvas, she explained.
