Aayam, an institute dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Bharatnatyam, announces its upcoming event, “Vaidehi”. The event will take place on April 20, 2024, from 6:15 pm onwards at LTG Auditorium, Mandi House, New Delhi.
“Vaidehi” presents the tale of Sita, a perspective from Saint Tulsidas’s epic – Ramcharitmanas. Conceived and choreographed by guru Sindhu Mishra, this performance aims to stimulate creativity in the narrative of Ramayana, while also exploring the love and virtues shown by Sita.
Shruti Verma, a senior disciple of Guru Sindhu Mishra, will present this tale through the language of Bharatanatyam. This solo performance will be Shruti’s debut updated presentation, a blend of tradition and artistic innovation of “Vaidehi”.
Accompanied by a live orchestra, the performance will include artists such as G Ilangovan on Carnatic vocal and bass, Nitin Sharma on Hindustani vocal, Sachin Sharma on tabla, and Ramamurthy Kesavan on Mridang. Nattuvangam will be handled by Guru Sindhu Mishra.
Shruti Verma, a dedicated dancer and graduate student of Computer Science, has showcased her talent on various platforms. Her portrayal of Sita will delve into the different perspectives and emotions of the narrative, revealing shades of Ramcharitmanas.
Guru Sindhu Mishra has gained recognition in the dance community for her dance style and contribution to the cultural landscape. As the founder of Aayam, she has nurtured a new generation of dancers and artists.
