This season, Patriot set out to capture the essence of spring through the lens, visiting some of Delhi’s most iconic green spaces—Lodhi Garden, Sunder Nursery, Amrit Udyan, and Shanti Path.
Lodhi Garden: A blend of history and bloom
Lodhi Garden, a historical oasis in the heart of the city, bursts into life with an array of seasonal flowers. The centuries-old tombs stand amidst a riot of colours— bright marigolds, elegant tulips, and sprawling bougainvillaea. Joggers, morning walkers, and photography enthusiasts revel in the charm of this urban retreat, where nature and history exist in perfect harmony.
Garima Sinha and her college mates had been wondering where to celebrate a friend’s birthday when they decided on Lodhi Garden. “We chose this place because of its beautiful greenery, towering trees, and vibrant flowers,” she said. They brought food and a birthday cake, making the most of the serene setting. Lodhi Garden, she added, isn’t just a one-time celebration spot—they visit every weekend to unwind, enjoy nature, and make memories together.

Sunder Nursery: Delhi’s botanical jewel
A UNESCO-listed heritage park, Sunder Nursery is a paradise during spring. The meticulously designed gardens host a spectacular variety of flora— roses, lilies, and rare medicinal plants. Butterflies dance over beds of flowers, and the sound of chirping birds adds a soothing melody to the picturesque scenery.
Families and nature lovers stroll along the walkways, absorbing the tranquillity that defines this green haven. The park is adorned with blooming trees—amaltas, jacarandas, and gulmohars—creating a breathtaking corridor of colour.
Rashi Tanwar and her friends from Delhi describe visiting Sunder Nursery during the spring season as a heavenly experience. They cherish the idea of spending time there whenever they get the chance, immersing themselves in its serene beauty. Their favourite time to visit is during the golden hours, when the soft, warm sunlight enhances the vibrant flowers and lush greenery, creating a picturesque and tranquil atmosphere perfect for relaxation and meaningful conversations with friends.
Amrit Udyan: A royal springtime delight
Formerly known as Mughal Gardens, Amrit Udyan within Rashtrapati Bhavan opens its doors to the public during spring, showcasing an unparalleled floral extravaganza.
Tulips in striking shades of red, yellow, and pink line the pathways, while fountains sparkle under the sunlight. The scent of fresh blossoms fills the air, making this garden a testament to nature’s grandeur and meticulous landscape artistry.

Shanti Path: Blossoms along the diplomatic enclave
Driving through Shanti Path during spring is a visual delight. Against the backdrop of embassies and lush greenery, the flowers symbolise renewal and the fleeting yet beautiful passage of time. This year, over 3.25 lakh tulip bulbs imported from the Netherlands have been planted across the city, of which 1.46 lakh bulbs have been used at Shanti Path to create a stunning display.
Through this journey, Delhi’s spring reveals itself as a season of rejuvenation, where nature flourishes and life takes on a brighter, more hopeful hue.
