Man found with forged identity and in possession of arms and ammunition

A Pakistani national was arrested on October 12 from east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area, in possession of arms and ammunition, according to the police officials.

The man, a resident of Pakistan’s Punjab province Mohammad Ashraf alias Ali, had reportedly been living in Delhi with an Indian identity card obtained through forged documents, PTI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha as saying.

An AK-47 assault rifle with one extra magazine and 60 rounds, one hand grenade, two pistols and 50 rounds were also seized, according to ANI.

Ashraf has been arrested under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosives Act and Arms Act, police said. Delhi police tweeted that the arrest was made, “as we beefed up anti-terror alert and action across city in current festive season. Major terror plan foiled. Further probe on”.
