The Delhi under-19 team romped home to an innings victory against Jharkhand in a Cooch Behar Trophy game here at the Karnail Singh Stadium.
Batting first on a challenging pitch, Delhi could muster only 295 and were dismissed in just over a day, having batted for 92.1 overs.
Left-handed opener Arpit Rana, who has been among runs recently, was dismissed early for just nine runs but the other opener Aditya Chaudhary (68) and No. 3 batsman Ankit Kumar (52) added 129 runs for the second wicket.
They withstood some fine bowling from the Jharkhand bowlers, who extracted bounce as well turn from the pitch.
Skipper Hardik Sharma chipped in with 24, Tarun Bisht with 30, Yajas Sharma with 35, wicketkeeper Krish Yadav with 25 and Rounak Waghela with 32 and Delhi stretched their total in the vicinity of 300.
The score may have looked just about average but the performance of Jharkhand batsmen was abysmal, ensuring a huge win for Delhi.
Pacer Divansh Rawat picked five wickets for 54 runs as Jharkhand were skittled out for just 140. Middle-order batsman Himanshu scored 61 but no one else could reach even 20.
Following on, Jharkhand fell to an even further low score as they could crawl to just 125 in 50 overs before being all out.
Aman Bharti picked five for 39 while Rounak Waghela took four for 24 to return as Delhi’s most successful bowlers in the second innings. Opener Avinash top-scored with 32.
Delhi, who had beaten Nagaland by an innings and 253 runs and had lost to Rajasthan by an innings and seven runs in earlier games, will play Kerala next from November 26 in Wayanad.
With 14 points from three games, Delhi are currently placed second in Group D behind Rajasthan (16 points).
