Glimpses of celebration after Delhi Capitals win against Rajasthan Royals

Delhi Capitals reclaimed their winning form with a commanding 20-run triumph over the Rajasthan Royals, maintaining their hopes for an IPL playoff berth.

Tristan Stubbs showcased his prowess with a brisk 41 off just 20 deliveries, propelling Delhi Capitals to a formidable total of 221/8 after Rajasthan Royals chose to field.

In response, Rajasthan Royals were contained to 201 for 8, with Kuldeep Yadav emerging as Delhi’s standout bowler, securing figures of 2/25. Khaleel Ahmed (2/47) and Mukesh Kumar (2/30) also made significant contributions, claiming two wickets each.

Delhi Capitals now share the 12-point mark with Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants, intensifying the competition in the mid-table for playoff berths.

Rajasthan’s skipper, Sanju Samson, led their chase with a resilient 86 off 46 balls (8×4, 6×6), marking his fifth half-century of the season.

However, his impressive innings came to a controversial end when Shai Hope grabbed a catch at the long-on boundary.

Subsequently, Kuldeep Yadav dealt a crucial blow in his final over, significantly diminishing Rajasthan’s chances.

Earlier, the duo of Jake Fraser-McGurk (50 off 20 balls) and Abhishek Porel (65 off 36 balls) formed a dynamic partnership, amassing 60 runs in just 26 balls before Ravichandran Ashwin (3/24) triggered a collapse.

Brief Scores:

Delhi Capitals: 221 for 8 in 20 overs (Jake Fraser-McGurk 50, Abhishek Porel 65; Ravichandran Aswhin 3/24).

Rajasthan Royals: 201 for 8 in 20 overs (Sanju Samson 86; Kuldeep Yadav 2/25, Khaleel Ahmed 2/47, Mukesh Kumar 2/30). (With inputs from PTI)
