The department has predicted generally cloudy sky with possibility of drizzle during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 37 degrees Celsius

Delhi experienced a slight rise in temperature on Thursday, with the mercury touching 21.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the seasonal average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

At 8.30 am, the humidity level stood at 64 per cent.

The IMD anticipates a generally cloudy sky with a chance of light drizzle throughout the day. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 37 degrees Celsius.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) for the national capital was measured at 145 at 9 am, categorising it under the “moderate” range.

Wednesday marked the warmest day of the year for Delhi, with the temperature soaring to 37 degrees Celsius, four notches above the seasonal average, as per the IMD.

Kuldeep Srivastava, scientist and head of the local weather office, noted, “Despite Wednesday being the warmest day, the presence of cloudy skies and light showers in certain areas of Delhi NCR alleviated the heat.”

Looking ahead to April, Srivastava suggested that temperatures in the national capital might continue to rise.

The weather forecast indicates cloudy skies with occasional light rain and drizzle for the next three days, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 37 and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively. (With inputs from PTI)
