Capturing diversity
What: Diversity is the most common word used to describe India. Here’s a glimpse of India’s incredible religious traditions through a collection of 50 stunning photographs. Titled “Altars of Yearning: How India Prays”, it attempts to show people in moments that are private and vulnerable. Curated by Shripriya Dalmia Thirani, it depicts the secret lives of Bramhacharis in Bodh Gaya and the immersion of Goddess Durga in West Bengal, among other rituals.

Crafting with clay
What: Get ready to get your hands dirty and explore the artist in yourself. Learn the art of chiselling, sculpting and moulding at The She Sessions: Clay Relief Workshop hosted by Project Eve. Beginners will learn how to use tools to create depth and height on a clay medallion. Join in to experience the feel of moulding something with your bare hands as experts guide you at every step.

Celebrating music
What: Music lovers in the city, get ready to celebrate World Music Day. Initiated by France in 1982, every year on June 21 the whole world celebrates music through the Fête de la Musique. On this occasion, Alliance Française de Delhi is organising an event to highlight musical diversity and to bring all music lovers together. Join in to enjoy a concert by Knight Shades and let yourself loose with DJ Roli, the versatile, à la mode disco jockey in the city. It’s open for all.

Storytelling sessions
What: Rediscovering the art of storytelling, Octave Foundation is organising ‘Wari’, a storytelling series. The word ‘wari’ means story in Manipuri. Indulge yourself in the live narration of folk stories from Manipur and the North East. The initiative will provide a platform to the lost art form of narrating stories. The stories are carefully curated and translated into Hindi to showcase the diversity of society through folktales.

Future filmmakers
What: For all the cinephiles in the city, here’s the chance to watch some of the undiscovered works of budding directors. At ‘First Cut 7.0’ get a chance to watch some of the earliest work of new filmmakers. Directors present will give their insights on how to make and fund your first film. In case you have your own project, you can show it to an audience which is open to experimental films. Meet fellow enthusiasts from your field for collaborations on future projects.
