As F.R.I.E.N.D.S reunion is about to make its way, fans all over the world are overwhelmed and can’t keep calm
One big couch, six friends and endless memories – that’s how F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan would like to describe their favorite sitcom. What began in 1994, still resonates with millions all over the world. The show, which has been loved by people from all nooks and corners, is to return on screen – after 17 long years!
Amid these troubled times, when the news of a F.R.I.E.N.D.S reunion came out, fans could not keep calm. Starring Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer – this 10-season American sitcom aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004. Created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, is one of the most-watched shows in the history of American TV.
All the six stars who featured in it – as Ross (Schwimmer), Rachel (Aniston), Monica (Cox), Chandler (Perry), Joey (LeBlanc) and Phoebe (Kudrow) – went on to become household names. These actors, fortunately, never had a fallout – something which is quite uncommon when a show goes on for this long. Instead, Aniston and Cox are best friends not only in reel, but in real life as well.
These actors, even after the show ended, had made appearances together in various talk shows. The camaraderie they have with each other is still something that speaks volume. This could also be a dominant factor behind the sitcom’s success – the actors’ blended well, and that authenticity reflected well.
What intrigued the fans were how come, even after shooting for a decade, these actors never dated each other – none of them. The professionality they maintained is definitely something to make note of.
F.R.E.I.N.D.S has been an integral part of millions of viewers worldwide – and even today, it is being watched incessantly by the fans. In India, all the ten season is available on Netflix. Thus, most of the shows fans have been going back to it again and again – reliving the magical journey of these endearing group of friends.
This comedy sitcom explores the life of six friends – their journey, relationships and more – all of which looked at from the prism of friendship. Their rock-solid friendship forms the base of their life story.
F.R.I.E.N.D.S, moreover, is more than just a show. It is an emotion, it’s nostalgia and comfort for many bruised souls on a bad day, just like the title track rightly says, “If it hasn’t been your day, your month or even your year…but I’ll be there for you.” And it always was, there for us – in bad times and in good. And now, it’s back to soothe our tired soul amid a crisis.
The reunion is said to have one episode, named “The One Where They Get Back Together.” It was going to release last year, but the pandemic caused a delay to the much-awaited premiere. As per reports, it will be an unscripted get-together of the six characters (either the actors will play themselves or take in their screen roles as in the show). Directed by Ben Winston, the special episode will also have a host of celebrity guests like David Beckham, Justin Beiber, BTS, among others.
Recently, Cox in a talk show with Ellen DeGeneres was seen sharing her experience of the reunion’s shoot. Calling it “unbelievable” and “emotional,” she shared “we got to be on stage 24 for the first time, all of us, in I forgot how many years. 15 years, 17 years?”
Though, it might not be their first reunion per se – as they had something similar in 2016 – but there, Perry could not participate. But this time, it’s going to be a full house. And what could be a greater joy for the F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan than to see their favorite characters together again! Thus, one eagerly waits to hear Joey’s “How you doin?” once again; awaits to hear Ross passionately talking about dinosaurs while Rachel argues they were “not on a break”, Chandler cracking yet another PJ, and Phoebe singing “smelly cat” yet again – all the while, Monica clearing up the messes these goofballs create!
