Gudamba, a play featuring famous theatre, movie and television actress Lubna Salim will be held at Sri Ram Centre, Mandi House, Delhi on Sunday.
The play will be held under 25th edition of National School of Drama’s Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM).
The play has been written by Javed Siddiqi, directed by well-known theatre director of the Industry Salim Arif and produced by Essay Ensemble, Mumbai.
Arif is an alumnus of the National School of Drama, New Delhi. A very well-known name in the field of Indian theatre and films. He is currently the Head of Department of Cultural Studies in Whistling Woods International, Mumbai.
It is pertinent to mention here that Lubna has worked in the films like Gadar 2, Ritesh Batra’s Photograph, Paresh Rawal’s OMG, web series- The Aam Aadmi Family including television shows like Teri Meri Doriyaan, Maryam Khan, Khirkee, Mera Naam Karegi Raushan and Baa Bahu Aur Baby brings life to her characters with an incisive edge.
Gudamba is a touching monologue that will keep the audience glued to their seats throughout the play.
The story revolves around an ambitious young girl Amina (Lubna Salim) who gets married and thinks that her man of dreams is God’s answer to her prayers. Living as a Bahu (daughter-in-law) in an old sprawling joint family house with its complicated domestic politics, Amina saunters her way through with comic effervescence and self-deprecating humour.
Gudamba is a compelling study of changing times, a theatrical delight worth experiencing.
