Event highlights music, campaigns, and voices for women’s empowerment

Swadha, an organisation working on women’s empowerment and community initiatives, observed its 8th Founder Day with a cultural programme that combined music with reflections on its social work.

The event featured a performance by singer and Padma Shri awardee Jaspinder Narula, who presented songs centred on resilience and women’s strength. “Music has the power to heal, inspire, and empower. Tonight’s performance was my humble offering to the spirit of every woman who dares to dream, rise, and create change,” she said.

Swadha, which began as a grassroots movement, has been running campaigns such as TV-Mukt Bharat to encourage mindful screen use, drives for women’s health and education, anti-plastic and environmental cleanliness campaigns. Its work has drawn support from families and businesses including Mankind Pharma, Ahuja Sons, Bhutani Group, Unity Group, Mario Group, Yashoda Medicity, and others.

Founding members Varsha Goel and Anju Ahuja said the platform aimed to create both solidarity and practical change. “This journey is not mine alone — it belongs to every woman who has walked with us,” Goel said. Ahuja added that the effort was as much about creating sisterhood as it was about running campaigns.

The anniversary concluded with a pledge to continue programmes promoting women’s empowerment, sustainability and community engagement.
