Five people, including a minor, were apprehended on Thursday for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old boy to death over prior enmity in outer north Delhi’s Samaypur Badli area, police said.
The accused — Ajay alias Bindi (20), who was previously involved in a criminal case, Sunny alias Bhatura (19), Raju alias Bengali (19), Suraj (18), and a minor — were all residents of Siraspur, they said.
Raju and the victim had prior enmity, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami said that on Wednesday, the victim was sitting with his friends around a bonfire in the Rana Park area when six to seven assailants came and attacked him without any provocation.
While the victim managed to dodge initial blows, he was stabbed between the armpit and ribs on the left side of his chest, he said.
He was rushed to the BSA Hospital by his friends, where doctors declared him dead, police said, adding that an FIR was registered.
“The police teams analysed CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and carried out technical surveillance of mobile phones used by the accused after the crime. Based on the inputs, overnight raids were conducted at multiple locations in Delhi, leading to the apprehension of five accused,” the officer said.
One knife, believed to be the weapon used in the crime, has been recovered, the police said.
Further investigation is underway to recover other incriminating articles and to ascertain whether more persons were involved in the incident, they added.
