Four arrested in south Delhi burglary case

Upon interrogation, the four confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of stolen gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh

The Delhi Police have arrested three people, including a woman, for allegedly breaking into a house in South Delhi’s Kailash Colony and stealing cash and jewellery worth at least Rs 50 lakh, officials said on Monday.

The incident took place on February 21, when the homeowners were away in Surajkund, Faridabad. Upon their return, they found the main door broken and valuables missing. An FIR was registered, and multiple police teams were formed to investigate the case.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said that CCTV footage showed four suspects entering the house at 1:15 PM. Two broke the door and entered, while the other two kept watch outside. They fled at 1:34 PM.

The suspects were identified as Pardhan, Ranjeet Singh, Babulal, and Prakash, all from Ajmer, Rajasthan. Further investigation led to the arrest of Pardhan, Bhanwar Singh (60), a 53-year-old woman, and Ramavtar Soni (28), who received the stolen jewellery.

During questioning, the accused confessed to conducting a recce before committing the crime. They divided the stolen jewellery, with Bhanwar Singh and the woman selling 125 grams of gold to Ramavtar Soni. Some jewellery was hidden in a field in their Ajmer village, later recovered by police.

Pardhan, 34, was previously declared a proclaimed offender in a similar case. The remaining suspects are still at large, and police are continuing their search.
