According to a statement by CIAL, the threat was received via its official email ID concerning the IndiGo flight, which had arrived from Muscat and departed for Delhi at 9.31 am carrying 157 passengers and six crew members.
Following the receipt of the threat, a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened, and the threat was deemed “specific,” CIAL said.
“The information was promptly communicated to relevant authorities, following which the flight made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport and is currently undergoing inspection,” the statement added.
CIAL further confirmed that after the completion of the necessary security checks, the aircraft would proceed to its destination in Delhi.
On Monday, officials reported that Lufthansa flight LH752, en route from Frankfurt to Hyderabad, had to return to Germany following a bomb threat. In response, a threat assessment committee was convened in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Sources revealed that the Hyderabad-bound flight departed Frankfurt on June 15 and was scheduled to arrive early the following morning. However, at 6:01 PM IST on June 15, Hyderabad airport received an email warning of a potential bomb threat targeting the flight. Acting out of an abundance of caution, authorities advised the aircraft to turn back.
“A bomb threat assessment committee was activated, and all protocols were followed per SOP. For safety reasons, the airline was instructed to return to Frankfurt or divert to the nearest suitable airport,” an official source stated.

Lufthansa later informed that the flight was unable to secure landing clearance in Hyderabad, prompting the decision to return to its origin.
A Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed the diversion, citing safety concerns: “Out of an abundance of caution, Lufthansa flight LH752 from Frankfurt to Hyderabad returned after authorities were alerted to a bomb threat posted on social media. Passenger and crew safety is Lufthansa’s highest priority.” The spokesperson added that affected passengers were accommodated in Frankfurt and would continue their journey to Hyderabad later.
Hyderabad airport authorities noted that the flight had not yet entered Indian airspace when the threat was received, allowing for the diversion.
An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
This follows a similar case on June 13, when Air India flight AI 379 from Phuket to Delhi received a bomb threat mid-flight. The aircraft, which had taken off at 9:30 AM local time, made an emergency landing in Phuket as a precaution, according to airport officials.
