The Directorate of Education (DoE) of the Delhi government has released standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline admissions for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories in private schools for the 2025-26 academic year.
The process began with the annual data collection on schools’ sanctioned strength, which has already been uploaded on the DoE website, according to a circular issued on Thursday.
The DoE will identify seat vacancies and update the information on its portal within seven working days. A district-level committee, headed by the DDE district, will address schools’ representations regarding seat allocation. Final seat availability will then be announced, and applications will be invited through a detailed circular, the Directorate of Education (DoE) Delhi stated.
Admissions will occur through a computerised draw of lots, with successful candidates notified via text messages, emails, or phone calls, the circular mentioned.

Document verification will now be conducted by zonal authorities rather than individual schools. Twenty-nine zonal teams, trained in RTE provisions, will examine the documents within 10 working days after the draw, the circular noted.
“In case of discrepancies in submitted documents, candidates will have 15 working days to resolve them, while non-reported candidates will be given an additional five working days to submit their documents,” the DoE clarified.
Seats that remain vacant due to rejections or non-reporting will be reallocated through subsequent computerised draws. The income limit for EWS category admissions has been revised to less than ₹5 lakh annually. All related circulars will be issued in both Hindi and English, the DoE added.
