The Delhi government has expanded its Chief Minister Advocates Welfare Scheme, providing health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh to 3,330 additional lawyers in the city, officials said on Monday.
Under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) scheme, lawyers will receive Rs 10 lakh personal health coverage and Rs 5 lakh family insurance. Chief Minister Atishi has approved the move, according to an official statement.
Currently, over 27,000 lawyers in Delhi benefit from the scheme. With the inclusion of these new members, the total number of insured lawyers will rise to around 31,000, the statement noted.
“The AAP government has always prioritised the welfare of lawyers and will continue to do so. Lawyers play a vital role in upholding the Constitution and ensuring justice for all,” Atishi said.
Launched in 2019, the scheme aims to enhance the welfare of lawyers, with an annual allocation of Rs 50 crore. It was particularly impactful during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing essential support to thousands of lawyers and their families, the chief minister added.

The scheme offers enrolled lawyers Rs 10 lakh term insurance, along with group insurance worth Rs 5 lakh for their spouse and up to two dependent children under 25 years of age.
Eligibility for the scheme requires lawyers to be registered with the Bar Council of Delhi and to be voters in the national capital, the statement further specified.
