DMRC has now become the first public sector entity in the country to adopt next-generation UPI solutions for ticketing

Delhi Metro: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a new digital payment feature, enabling commuters to make one-click UPI transactions directly within the Delhi Metro Sarthi app. The facility, launched in collaboration with NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), integrates BHIM Vega, the advanced merchant plug-in that supports seamless in-app UPI payments without external redirection.

With this, DMRC has become the first public sector entity in the country to adopt next-generation UPI solutions for ticketing, further strengthening its push towards cashless travel.

DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar said the new initiative reflects the Metro’s focus on digital innovation. “With the launch of ‘DMRC Pay powered by BHIM’, we are further simplifying daily ticketing for our passengers. One-click, in-app UPI payments will not only save time but also streamline the entire experience,” he said.

Echoing this, NBSL MD and CEO Lalitha Nataraj noted, “This collaboration with DMRC is a step forward in bringing UPI’s convenience directly into the daily lives of millions of commuters. By enabling in-app, one-click payments through BHIM Vega, we’re supporting public transport systems in becoming faster, smarter, and more digitally empowered.”

The Delhi Metro Sarthi app, which already supports multi-modal ticketing, has also expanded its services. These include bookings for the ‘Jai Hind Sound and Light Show’ at Red Fort, integration with Noida Metro (NMRC) ticketing, DTC bus ticketing via ONDC, and recharge options for Airtel Payments Bank’s RuPay NCMC card.

Airtel Payments Bank’s MD and CEO, Anubrata Biswas, said the NCMC card recharge feature would further simplify fare payments. “Our partnership with DMRC has focused on building accessible and reliable digital solutions. This integration is a significant step towards seamless mobility,” he said.
