Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal underscored the strides made by the Delhi governance model, particularly in education, health, and electricity, which he believes are setting a template for the rest of the country.
During his address at the Assembly, Kejriwal cited the achievements of his government in these areas. He began his speech by asking the members to acknowledge the resilience of senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, who was arrested a year ago by the CBI in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
“The AAP government in Delhi has accomplished tasks that hadn’t been addressed in the past 75 years. Presently, the ‘Delhi model’ is charting the course for the nation. I will elaborate on three critical sectors – health, education, and electricity,” he announced.
Kejriwal reported that approximately four to five lakh students in Delhi have transitioned from private to government schools.
“If we can furnish quality education to underprivileged children in Delhi, the same can be replicated nationwide. Why are government schools shuttering in various states? The nation is leaning towards education privatization, and it’s not just confined to Delhi. Only Rs 5 lakh crore is required to extend education to 17 lakh students in the country,” he stated.
He also lambasted the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme as the “most significant fraud.” This critique emerged a day after Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena urged him to introduce the central program in Delhi.
“We’ve made medical treatment free for everyone in Delhi. They suggest implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme here. Ayushman Bharat is the most significant scam. What does it promise? They will give you an insurance card, and your family will receive Rs 5 lakh worth of free treatment for a year if you are hospitalized. What is the use of this insurance?” the chief minister questioned.
“They are closing government hospitals and have distributed cards to the people. This is an attempt to direct people toward private hospitals,” he asserted.
Kejriwal also emphasised that, unlike other states, people in Delhi enjoy an uninterrupted power supply.
