Delhi will soon have a single complaint number for all waterlogging-related issues to streamline grievance redressal as the city braces for the monsoon, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh announced on Monday.
Speaking after a visit to the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Control Room, Singh said coordination among civic agencies had improved substantially now that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governs the Centre, the Delhi government, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
“Since all three administrations are under one party, there’s seamless coordination and no blame game,” he said. “We are working towards a unified complaint number because residents often don’t know which department is responsible for a particular road.”
The minister said the NDMC’s command and control centre would be central to this initiative. It will integrate departments including the PWD, MCD, and Flood Control, with officials from each agency stationed there to enable real-time responses.
“If the Chief Minister wants to monitor the situation during the monsoon, she will be able to access live updates through cameras placed across the city,” Singh added. “All our pumps are automated and can be controlled remotely via mobile devices.”

The NDMC’s existing 311 helpline will be repurposed as the unified complaint number for the entire city, he said.
The announcement comes days after heavy rainfall, accompanied by a dust storm and strong winds, caused severe waterlogging, uprooted trees, disrupted flights, and snarled traffic across Delhi. Waterlogging and sewer maintenance have been longstanding civic challenges in the capital.
Singh said the new system is aimed at improving emergency response times and fostering better coordination among departments during adverse weather conditions.
