Month-long drive combines public awareness with strict enforcement to curb traffic violations and reduce road accidents across the capital

Delhi Traffic Police on Tuesday launched a month-long road safety and traffic discipline campaign across the national capital, focusing on awareness and an enforcement drive to reduce accidents.

Under the campaign, police will organise “Traffic Pathshalas” at major traffic spots where violators will be counselled on road safety instead of only being prosecuted.

“Awareness programmes will also be held at schools, colleges, markets, corporate offices and other public places, while traffic training parks will continue to educate children and young road users,” a senior traffic police officer said.

The officer said that as part of the enforcement drive, police will adopt a zero-tolerance approach against offences such as dangerous driving, overspeeding, drunken driving, signal jumping, wrong-side driving, use of mobile phones while driving and violations relating to helmets and seat belts.
