Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) said that a new attendance system will be implemented in government schools.
Class teachers will now record students’ attendance online using tablets or the school computer system. This digital attendance record will hold significance in the context of final examinations. The circular emphasizes that any manually marked attendance by the class teacher will not be taken into consideration for any purpose.
The circular highlights that online attendance records will serve as the definitive data for examination purposes. Both the class teacher and the school’s submission of students’ attendance data online will be reflected at the headquarters level.
The DoE underscores the importance of students’ physical presence in school and their active participation in the learning process.
To strengthen the connection between the school and students’ families, the heads of government schools have been instructed to foster a “positive home-school relationship.” This includes making personal calls to the students’ families and utilizing digital communication channels such as SMS, WhatsApp, and email.
A regular Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) schedule has also been established. These meetings will occur every Saturday, except for the Second Saturday and holidays, after school hours. During these sessions, schools will provide parents with a comparative analysis of their child’s attendance, especially focusing on students who have been absent for more than three days in a week, as outlined in the DoE circular.
