Moderate to dense fog enveloped parts of Delhi on Saturday morning, although visibility showed signs of improvement in various areas, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
At Safdarjung, Delhi’s primary weather station, visibility was noted at 200 meters, while it was 500 meters at Ridge.
IMD issued an advisory for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, north Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh, warning of potential fog affecting visibility at airports, highways, and railway routes.
Fog-related disruptions continued for the fourth consecutive day, impacting train services with 30 Delhi-bound trains facing delays. Around 80 flights have encountered delays at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi due to adverse weather conditions.
Delhi registered a minimum temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius, marking a deviation of five notches above the season’s average, according to IMD.
At 8:30 am, the relative humidity measured 88 percent.
The Delhi Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded 399 at 8 am, classifying it within the ‘very poor’ category.
AQI categories are defined as follows: ‘good’ (0-50), ‘satisfactory’ (51-100), ‘moderate’ (101-200), ‘poor’ (201-300), ‘very poor’ (301-400), and ‘severe’ (401-500). (With inputs from PTI)
