Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai made the announcement and urged Delhi residents to support the government's efforts to curb air pollution

In response to the anticipated rise in pollution levels with the onset of winter, the Delhi government has imposed an immediate ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers throughout the city, effective until January 1.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced the decision and called on residents to support efforts to reduce air pollution.

In a tweet, Rai said, “Due to increasing pollution in winter, a ban has been placed on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers from today until January 1.”

He further added that the Delhi government has issued instructions regarding the ban and requested the cooperation of all Delhiites.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has provided detailed guidelines to ensure the ban is properly implemented.

The ban covers all types of firecrackers, including those sold online, and is aimed at addressing the rising pollution levels, which worsen during winter due to stubble burning, reduced wind speeds, and other seasonal factors.

The directive also assigns the Delhi Police to enforce the ban, requiring them to submit daily reports to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee.

Authorities have warned that strict actions will be taken against anyone violating the order.
