In an unexpected Saturday visit to the Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, Health Minister Raaj Kumar Anand stated that any negligence in the provision of healthcare facilities would not be tolerated.
According to a statement from his office, he also spoke with family members of young patients and asked about the hospital’s procedures during his visit.
He also asked doctors questions about the children’s care, behaviour, and medications.
The hospital staff was tasked by health minister Anand to guarantee that patients’ children receive high-quality care. He also suggested that hospital administrators upgrade their cleaning procedure.
He gathered information about the setups in the emergency room, intensive care unit, and various wards.
“Health is a priority area for the (Arvind) Kejriwal government. Therefore, any kind of negligence will not be tolerated, in providing health facilities to the people,” he was quoted as saying in the statement.
Apart from Delhi, patients from neighbouring states also visit the Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya. In such a situation, instructions have been given to make additional arrangements to manage the crowd, so that children and their families do not have to face any problem, he said.
In addition, the hospital administration has been directed to make the hospital “a model children’s hospital of the country by removing the clutter of the hospital”, the statement said.
The hospital’s doctors and staff provided the health minister with in-depth information about the food and medications for children.
He claimed that the city government is constantly working to ensure that all Delhi residents have access to high-quality healthcare.
According to Anand, hospitals are being renovated to make Delhi’s healthcare system one of the best in the world.
“Our aim is to make Delhi government hospitals one of the best in the whole country,” he said, adding, treatment facilities are being made more accessible, and existing hospitals are being made air-conditioned by making necessary changes.
