Light rain, cloudy skies forecast for Delhi

IMD forecasts light showers as Delhi records moderate air quality, temperatures hover around seasonal average

Delhi is expected to see a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 25 degrees Celsius, normal for the season, while the maximum is likely to settle around 35 degrees. Relative humidity stood at 77 per cent at 8.30 AM.

The city’s air quality was in the ‘moderate’ range on Tuesday morning with an AQI reading of 104 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). An AQI between 101 and 200 falls under the ‘moderate’ category, while zero to 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

On Monday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees above normal, and a minimum of 23.9 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees below normal, the IMD said. Weather conditions remained dry, with no rainfall in the past 24 hours.

Humidity levels on Monday fluctuated between 87 per cent and 57 per cent. The city’s AQI stood at 82 at 4 PM, placing it in the ‘satisfactory’ category, CPCB data showed.
