The majority of candidates contesting in the upcoming Delhi assembly election are within the 41-50 age group, as per the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), which released its report on the candidates’ academic qualifications.
The ADR‘s report examines age demographics, educational backgrounds, and political participation, based on affidavits submitted by the candidates along with their nomination papers.
The number of candidates analysed has increased from 672 in 2020 to 699 this year.
According to the analysis, candidates aged 41-50 represent the largest group, with 235 individuals, compared to 199 in 2020.
The report also notes a rise in the number of candidates aged over 70. This year, 19 candidates are 70 or older, up from 11 in 2020.
Among them, Aam Janmat Party candidate Rajender is the oldest, at 88 years old.

Conversely, the number of candidates aged between 25 and 30 has decreased from 57 in 2020 to 46 in 2025.
The youngest candidates in the election are Bhawana (Independent) and Harshad Chadha (Bahujan Samaj Party), both aged 25.
The 70-seat Delhi Assembly election will take place on February 5, with the vote count scheduled for February 8.
