Following a fight in the Shastri Park neighbourhood of northeast Delhi, a 45-year-old man was allegedly shot at by his brother-in-law, according to police on Thursday.
The individual was shot in the leg, but his condition is reportedly stable, they said.
“Mohammad Tazim (45), a scrap dealer by profession, was riding his motorbike home with his son Sameer (21) on Wednesday night when he was shot at,” said Joy Tirkey, deputy commissioner of police for the northeast.
“Tazim received bullet injuries on his right leg and was rushed to a nearby hospital. His condition is stated to be out of danger,” added Tirkey.
According to police, a FIR was filed in response to a statement provided by the victim’s son under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 34 (common intentions) and 307 (attempt to murder).
“The complainant told police that Tazim gave around Rs 2.78 lakh to his brother-in-law Shamshad. There was some dispute over it and he opened fire on him,” the DCP said.
Further investigation is underway, he added.
