The scheduled communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan will now take place on Monday evening, official sources have confirmed.
Originally slated for 12 noon, the hotline conversation has been postponed by a few hours. The reason for the delay has not been disclosed.
India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, targeting and destroying nine terrorist infrastructures located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was conducted in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam.
All subsequent retaliatory actions undertaken by India in response to Pakistani hostilities have been carried out under the aegis of Operation Sindoor.
On Saturday, both countries jointly announced that they had reached an understanding to immediately cease all forms of military engagement—by land, air, and sea.
On the same day, the President of the United States claimed credit for the breakthrough, asserting that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” following what he described as “a long night of talks mediated by the US”.
Following India’s initial strikes on May 7, Pakistan launched a series of attacks on Indian military installations over the course of May 8, 9, and 10. The most intense of these took place during the intervening night of May 9 and 10 . In response, India launched strikes on eight key Pakistani military installations, reportedly inflicting substantial damage.

According to sources, it was in the wake of these retaliatory strikes that Pakistan sought a cessation of hostilities and its DGMO initiated contact with his Indian counterpart.
These sources emphasised that the agreement to halt military actions was finalised through the DGMO-level engagement, refuting claims by Washington of having brokered the ceasefire.
Approximately two hours after the conversation between the two DGMOs, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced on Saturday evening that India and Pakistan had reached an agreement to immediately halt all military activity across land, air, and sea.
