Warm morning in Delhi; air quality very poor

Delhi experienced warm morning conditions on Tuesday as the IMD issued a heatwave alert and the city’s air quality deteriorated to the “very poor” category

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with the weather office issuing a yellow alert for heatwave conditions.

Among other stations, Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 27.5 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notches above normal, while Lodhi Road logged 25.6 degrees Celsius, 0.4 notches below normal.

Ridge station recorded 26.7 degrees Celsius, 0.1 notch above normal and Ayanagar registered 27.1 degrees Celsius, 0.3 notches below normal.

The maximum temperature is expected to touch 44 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s air quality deteriorated to the “very poor” category with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 301 at 9 AM, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

As per CPCB standards, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”.
