Bharatanatyam artist Madhura Bhrushundi, a disciple of Guru Geeta Chandran, will showcase her performance on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi. Madhura has honed her skills under Guru Geeta Chandran’s guidance for the past 15 years, culminating in her Arangetram debut in 2014.
Acknowledged for her talent, Madhura has received the Young Artistes scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She is recognised as a Graded Artist of Doordarshan, showcasing her proficiency as a solo performer. Her repertoire includes performances at various esteemed events such as Vasantotsav, Karur Natyanjali, Amritanjali Nrityotsav, and Sai Nrityotsav.
Madhura actively contributes to the promotion of Indian classical arts, especially Bharatanatyam, through workshop demonstrations in collaboration with organizations like Spic Macay, Routes2Roots, and NCPA. She also assists Guru Geeta Chandran in teaching Bharatanatyam at Natya Vriksha in New Delhi.
As a senior dancer at Guru Geeta Chandran’s Natya Vriksha Dance Collective, Madhura has participated in renowned festivals like the Dance Festival at the Madras Music Academy, Khajuraho Dance Festival, Pravah Dance Festival (NCPA), Doverlane Music Conference (Kolkata), Ganga Mahotsav, Uday Shankar Choreography Festival, and Kalidas Samaroh, among others.
When asked about her upcoming performance, Madhura expressed her excitement, stating, “I am thrilled to present my Bharatanatyam performance at Triveni Kala Sangam. It’s an honor to showcase the art form that I’ve dedicated years of practice and passion to”.
