A solo exhibition of paintings by artist Dr Simple Mohanty, titled Brush with Nature, will be held from April 25 to 27 at Lokayata Art Gallery in Hauz Khas Village. The three-day exhibition will showcase 46 works in acrylic and mixed media, capturing the beauty and vibrancy of the natural world.
Dr Mohanty’s paintings reflect her deep connection with nature, using impressionistic and expressionistic styles to depict subjects like flowers, water, animals, and landscapes. “Nature has always inspired me — its balance, colours, and rhythms mirror human life,” she says.
An artist since childhood, Dr Mohanty began with watercolours and later explored oils, acrylics, and pen and ink. Her work has been exhibited across India and abroad, including at the International Lalit Kala Mela, the India Art Festival, and galleries in Dubai and Poland.
In 2018, she received the Bharat Nirman Make in India Award for Excellence in Fine Arts. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her art evolved into a more experimental style, gaining international recognition through online exhibitions. In 2021, her painting Living in the Moment won a global art contest and was printed on limited-edition footwear by Spanish fashion brand Mint & Rose.
