A solo art exhibition titled Eternal Ganga by Delhi-based artist Shubha Bahadur will be held at AFACS Art Gallery, Rafi Marg, from November 22 to November 28. Known for her work in watercolours, Bahadur’s paintings focus on themes of Indian heritage and natural landscapes.
A graduate of the College of Art, Delhi, Bahadur uses watercolours to depict her subjects. Her approach combines impressionistic techniques with realistic interpretations. She avoids categorising her work under specific styles, instead describing it as emotional and grounded in observation.
Bahadur does not use photographs for her artwork, choosing instead to paint on-site. This method allows her to capture various locations, including monuments in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, South India, and Delhi. Her exhibition centres on the River Ganga, exploring its geographical, cultural, and mythological significance.

The Eternal Ganga series portrays the river’s journey from its source at the Gangotri glacier to its flow through the plains. Key locations such as the confluence with tributaries at Prayagraj and the ghats of Banaras are depicted in detail. The paintings also reflect moments of significance, such as sunrise and sunset over the river.
“My work explores the connection between the Ganga’s physical journey and its cultural role,” Bahadur said.
The river’s presence in mythology is also a focus of the exhibition. One piece depicts the goddess Ganga atop the mythical Makara, while others reimagine ancient temple sculptures and structures associated with the river.
Bahadur has held exhibitions at several galleries and continues to focus on themes of Indian history and culture through her work. The paintings in the exhibition are available for viewing and purchase.
