Exhibiting art

What: Exhibiting artworks of 10 young artists from Salaam Baalak Trust homes, Artreach India is organising ‘Geeli Mitti’. Artreach organises workshops for young children mostly from shelter homes, where they are guided by an artist to develop their imaginative and creative skills and find their own expressive voices. From August 2017 to June 2018, artists from SBT homes were part of the workshop which resulted in vibrant drawings, cyanotpe prints, clay works, collages, photographs, Claymation as well as a pottery works. The exhibition will showcase all the creations from these workshops.

Celebrating environment
What: With ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ as the theme of this 45th edition, the world is coming together to fight plastic pollution. On World Environment Day (June 5) all the activities will be showcased along with other exhibits and functions. A technology exhibition will also be held on the lawns of India Gate.
When: June 1-5

Life in a hospital
What: Between birth and death, there is the hospital. Revolving around patients and their relatives, Unicorn Actor’s Studio presents ‘Dastan-e-Aspatal’. Light-heartedly, this play tries to portray the hopes and despair of patients and their relatives. It brings out the aspect of loneliness at the end of someone’s life and highlights the importance of companionship.
When: June 9 (6pm)

Mango mania
What: From Alphonso, Amrapali, Kesar to Himsagar, Delhi International Mango festival will offer more than 500 varieties of mango. Visitors will be able to sample as well as purchase them. Different activities like competition of eating 3 kg in 3 minutes, magic shows and cultural performances will add to the fun.

Theatre and more
What: Third Space Collective is organising a workshop for the city’s young theatre practitioners, to discuss play production. Participants will be provided with intense training required to create a play. Performers, directors and designers will give the participants a grounding in the creative and technical aspects of theatre and will also work on ideas which come up during the 40-hour-long programme.
When: May 30 – June 8 (8:30 am)

Cut of comedy
What: A director from Chennai is rehearsing a play written in Urdu with a very diverse cast. Every possible problem pops up and the play seems to be doomed. On the eve of the final day, the lead actor leaves after bagging a big Bollywood break and a chowkidar replaces him. Join in the madness at ‘Cut Cut Cut’, a play on comedy of errors produced by Pierrot’s Troupe, showing the chaos and bizarre goings-on backstage.

Canvas and colours

What: Explore the Picasso in yourself. Culture Chauraha is organising a workshop where participants will be working with a palette knife on a canvas using impasto: a technique of using thick layers of paint to give a unique sense of texture and raw depth to the painting. Learn how to bring your painting alive in the truest sense.
