Exhibition: Women in city’s waste management

The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the women’s rights, inequality, and the need for better working conditions and safety standards

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, renowned for its sustainable model, together with SEWA, is organising a six-day photo exhibition to honour women recyclers in waste management of Delhi and Kolkata.

Commencing today, June 21, 2024, at the Living Tradition Centre (LTC), Bikaner House, New Delhi, the exhibition highlights women recyclers who have saved crores of rupees for the municipality while facing challenges such as informal jobs and inadequate housing.

“This exhibition is a tribute to the resilience and hard work of women recyclers,” said the organiser. “Through their efforts, they have significantly contributed to the municipality’s savings and environmental sustainability”.

The partnership between the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and SEWA aims to empower local communities, especially women waste recyclers and integrate best practices to improve sustainability in India’s waste management sector.
