Embassy of France in India, French Institute in India, and Alliance Française network are delighted to announce the eagerly anticipated celebration of Fête de la Musique 2023.

According to organisers, this year’s festival, curated by Boxout.fm, aims to explore the rich and diverse musical landscape while fostering dialogue and cultural exchange between France and India.

They said that the 2023 edition of the festival will embrace a hybrid model, combining both offline and online components to reach a wider audience.

Commencing on June 15 and continuing until June 26, the three-week program will feature an array of captivating concerts and engaging daytime events, including workshops and panel discussions. These events will be organised in collaboration with the Alliance Française network across multiple cities in India.

As part of the festival’s offerings, acclaimed French electronic DJ RONI, who garnered recognition following her remarkable debut at the Paris Boiler Room, will grace the stage with an enthralling fusion of jungle, breaks, techno, and club music during her tour across India, said the organisers.

Additionally, two young hip-hop artists, MC Kaur (Manmeet Kaur) and Mister Colfer (Flavien), will collaborate with the Alliance Française network to promote the values of sustainability and inclusivity through their performances, they said.

Simultaneously, Fête de la Musique will be showcased on the online portal fetedelamusique.in, serving as a platform for curated community playlists, and community radio broadcasts, and as a submission portal for offline events.

Originating in 1982 by the Minister of Culture of France, M Jack Lang, Fête de la Musique or World Music Day has been celebrated annually on June 21, coinciding with the summer solstice. This day is dedicated to celebrating music in all its forms, uniting musicians from all walks of life, whether amateurs or professionals. With its central focus on making music freely accessible to all, this event has gained immense popularity over the past 41 years, embraced by numerous countries and cities worldwide as a shared celebration of the universal love for music.

The festival program promises a rich tapestry of musical genres, formats, and talents, with segments including captivating concerts, insightful interviews with French and Indian musicians, curated playlists, community radio broadcasts, unique experiences, and much more.
