Biltu Sarkar Performing Art Foundation is present “Nrityakaar ’23,” a festival of Indian dance, paying homage to the Late Pandit Birju Maharaj. The event will take place on November 2, 2023, starting from 6 pm at Kamani Auditorium.
The festival celebrates the art of Kathak, a dance form that narrates stories through movement. Kathak, one of the eight classical dances originating in Uttar Bharat, embodies the essence of the Guru Shishyya Parampara, emphasising sophistication, depth, dedication, and discipline. More than just entertainment, Kathak offers inner satisfaction and joy to those who practice it.
According to the organisers, the festival primarily focuses on the institute’s students, providing them with a valuable opportunity to showcase their talents in front of experts, parents, and the audience. They said that this platform not only allows students to gain valuable stage experience but also enables them to learn various aspects of performance.
Haniya, a 9-year-old student of Biltu Sarkar Performing Arts Foundation said, “I have been associated with the institute for over 4 years.”
“My sister SIA also studied under the guidance of Biltu sir and Sumana ma’am. I feel blessed to get an opportunity to perform at one of the most prestigious stages, Kamani Auditorium, at the age of 9. Nrityakaar is a festival to showcase our learning and pay homage to respected Birju Maharajji,” she said.
