The Visual Arts Gallery at the India Habitat Centre will host Prismatic Narratives, a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Ranjit Sarkar, from April 1 to April 5. Curated by art historian Johny ML, the exhibition features a collection of paintings that explore human emotions, spirituality, and modernity through bold strokes and vibrant colours.
Sarkar, born in Kolkata in 1975, is known for blending modern artistic forms with traditional symbolism. His work is influenced by Impressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism, and often reinterprets mythology and religious themes in a contemporary context. In Prismatic Narratives, he moves beyond conventional colour schemes, using expressive tones to depict the contrast between fleeting trends and timeless human values.
A graduate of Calcutta University, Sarkar studied under Professor Samir Ghosh at Chandpara Art College and later pursued a Diploma in Painting from DQ, Hyderabad. He has exhibited his work at major venues in India, including the India Habitat Centre, All India Fine Art and Craft Society (AIFACS), and Chitrakala Parishad in Bangalore. His international showcases include exhibitions in Dubai, Singapore, and Boston. Over the years, he has received several awards, including the AIFACS Award and the Kalaspandan International Award.

Curator Johny ML, known for his expertise in contemporary art, has shaped the exhibition to highlight the underlying connections between modernity and tradition in Sarkar’s work.
The exhibition will open with a preview on April 1 at 6:00 PM. Entry is open to art enthusiasts, collectors, and the public.
