A solo exhibition titled ‘Realms of Peace’ by artist Bhasker Singha will be held at Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Center, located on Lodhi Road. The event is scheduled to take place from August 1 to August 5, 2023, with opening hours from 11 am to 7 pm daily.

The exhibition will showcase a collection of artworks that embody the artist’s profound philosophy and his unwavering pursuit of peace, love, and happiness.

Bhasker Singha shared his perspective on his artistic journey, stating, “I view every creation as part of a universal cycle, much like the ever-changing shape of the wind. Painting is my form of meditation, offering solace and allowing me to channel my emotions into a vibrant symphony of colors, forms, and figures. Through my art, I find spiritual satisfaction that transcends worldly illusions.”

“I have dedicated two decades of practice to achieve a remarkable transparent effect in my paintings, creating a sense of air. Despite the challenges of working with acrylic, known for its difficulty in achieving transparency, I skillfully apply at least 10 layers of color to my canvases. The result is an enchanting magic where even the first layer remains visible, resonating with viewers. The sculptural quality observed in my works is a testament to my innate temperament as a sculptor, expertly translated onto the canvas,” Bhaskar said.

“I belong to a generation of Bengal artists who initially pursued art as a part-time occupation or hobby. My artistic journey was fueled by my family’s unwavering support,” said Singha, expressing his gratitude for their encouragement and belief in his talent, which played a pivotal role in shaping his career as an artist.

“My mother’s sacrifice stands out as she sold her golden bangles to nurture my love for art. However, due to financial constraints, I worked in an advertising agency for two years before realising my true calling. Becoming an art teacher in a local school in Delhi provided me with the time and space to pursue my passion while providing for my family,” he said.

“Throughout my artistic career spanning over 25 years, I have showcased my talent in numerous exhibitions in and around Delhi,” he added.

“I am happy to have received awards, including the Camlin Foundation Award and the Bhiku Ram Jain Foundation Award in Delhi, 2010. These accolades recognise my contributions to the art world and further inspire me to continue my artistic exploration,” said Singha.
