The Border Security Force (BSF) announced on Saturday that it had “completely destroyed” a terrorist launchpad situated across the International Border in Pakistan’s Sialkot district, opposite the Akhnoor sector in Jammu. This decisive response came after Pakistan Rangers initiated unprovoked firing on BSF posts late Friday night.
According to a BSF spokesperson, the firing began around 9 PM on May 9 and targeted several Indian border outposts in the Jammu sector. The Indian forces retaliated swiftly and effectively, causing substantial damage to Pakistani infrastructure along the border. The spokesperson confirmed that the retaliatory strikes resulted in the total destruction of a key terror launchpad located in Looni village, Sialkot district, which was believed to be used for cross-border infiltration.
“Our resolve to protect India’s sovereignty is unshaken,” the spokesperson said, reaffirming the BSF’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s frontiers.

This escalation comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following precision strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces on May 8. Those strikes targeted terror camps and launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. That attack, which claimed the lives of several security personnel, was found to have cross-border links, intensifying security operations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.
Security agencies are reportedly maintaining high alert in border areas, with additional surveillance measures and reinforcements being deployed to prevent any further attempts at infiltration.
