India has reported its highest number of new COVID-19 cases in 140 days, with 1,300 new cases detected, according to data from the Union Health Ministry updated on Thursday.
The number of active cases has also increased to 7,605. The country’s death toll has risen to 5,30,816, with three additional deaths reported, one each in Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.46%, and the weekly positivity rate at 1.08%. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has now reached 4.46 crore (4,46,99, 418).
The active cases represent 0.02% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.79%, according to the ministry.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease has surged to 4,41,60,997, and the case fatality rate stands at 1.19%. India has conducted a total of 92.06 crore COVID-19 tests so far, with 89,078 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
Additionally, the country has administered 220.65 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine under the nationwide vaccination drive, according to the ministry’s website. (With inputs from PTI)
