Rony Banerjee is set release his book ‘Nano Delights: Unveiling the Vibrant World of Delhi’s Street Food Vendors in Sizzling Streets’ on September 15 at the World MSME Business Summit 2023 in New Delhi.
The non-fiction book, is being published by WASME, which is also the organiser of the Summit.
It takes readers on a methodological journey that explores the dynamics of street food businesses. It also serves as a comprehensive guide for understanding and celebrating the thriving street food culture in Delhi and the economies within it.
Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan is the chief guest at the event.
“This book is not by design. It just happened to me one day while cracking peanuts near India Gate, adjacent to Udyog Bhawan. I realised that the peanut seller makes a turnover of 18-20 lakhs per annum,” the author said.
“I started writing and did research on the intricacies and dynamics of street food businesses in NCR. Got 1000+ respondents and interviewed them in person. Did a comprehensive analysis of almost all factors that contribute to the success and challenges faced by street food vendors. I wrote on the cultural heritage, financial dynamics, challenges, and prospects of these businesses. I visited the struggles of these resilient entrepreneurs. I figured out the nuances around location, operations, product offerings, customer feedback, marketing strategies, financial shortcomings,” he added.
Critics have called the book as one that offers “captivating insights into the rich and diverse realm of Delhi’s street food” and also a “must-read for food enthusiasts and researchers alike”.
