Vadehra Art Gallery is set to unveil its latest solo exhibition featuring Indian-American artist Joya Mukerjee Logue. This marks Mukerjee Logue’s first solo show in India.
Titled “Those Who Walk Before Me”, the exhibition will run from August 27 to September 17, at the gallery’s contemporary space.
The show highlights Mukerjee Logue’s decade-long painting practice,
showcasing around thirty recent works in oil and watercolour. Mukerjee Logue, who was born to an American mother and an Indian father, reflects on her mixed cultural heritage through her art.

“My paintings are deeply rooted in my experiences and the cultural dialogues I’ve had,” she said.
“They are a blend of my personal history and my ongoing journey of self-discovery”.
Her new works focus on the architecture and neighbourhood of her paternal ancestral home in Ambala, Haryana.
Mukerjee Logue explained, “Exploring the
architecture of my ancestral home allows me to reflect on the continuity of time and culture. My goal is to reclaim and articulate narratives of identity and history through my art”.
An artist talk will be held on August 29 at 6 PM., where Joya Mukerjee Logue will discuss her work with Mala Singh, a noted author and publisher specialising in conservation, culture, and social histories.
Mukerjee Logue shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming conversation: “I am looking
forward to discussing my work with Mala Singh. Her insights into cultural and social histories will enrich the dialogue around my art”.
The exhibition promises to offer an intimate look at Mukerjee Logue’s exploration of human connection and cultural memory, rendered through her fluid and soulful artistic approach.
