Ganesa Natyalaya, a leading Bharatanatyam institution, will present Nimagna on Thursday, September 19, as part of its year-long golden jubilee celebration, Swarna Saroja. The performance will take place at Kamani Auditorium at 6.30 PM. Entry is free on a first-come, first-seat basis.

Nimagna is a special tribute to Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan, the founder of Ganesa Natyalaya, on her birth anniversary. The 75-minute performance, choreographed by Rama Vaidyanathan, features an ensemble of 25 dancers from the institution. The presentation explores the various ways of experiencing spiritual Rasa, or emotion, aiming to immerse both performers and spectators in a state of aesthetic bliss.

Rama Vaidyanathan, President of Ganesa Natyalaya, shared her vision for the performance, “The inspiration behind Nimagna is to create a Bharatanatyam ensemble work that combines emotional depth with visual artistry. This Swarna Saroja event begins with the Guru Stotram, paying homage to our founder. It continues with a tribute to the Goddess Devi through a keerthanam, followed by an exploration of the holy city of Kashi, which absorbs and cleanses the negative and positive energies of its devotees. The final piece, the Raasa Leela, delves into the profound quest for unity with the Supreme Power”.

Founded in 1974 by Guru Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan, Ganesa Natyalaya has grown from a small student body into a globally recognised institution. With over 2000 students trained and more than 30 disciples establishing their own Bharatanatyam schools worldwide, the institution continues to be a beacon of excellence in the art form.
